We all know how nutrients in vegetables and fruits vary depending on the soil they're grown on.    Take Idaho potatoes for instance - famous for being the best.   Why is that?   Because of the nutrients in the soil not found anywhere else.    Our famous Yeast products were grown in Croatia where the soil is very rich in nutrients.   Unfortunately the supplier is no longer growing yeast from their sugar beets - we searched the world for a replacement and have found the very best which reaches our high standards.

The percent per serving shown is for a recommended serving size of 25 grams (3 level tablespoons).   If taken as directed, one can will last two weeks.

Brewer's yeast is one of the most perfect foods known.  Loaded with proteins, minerals and vitamins, it is amazing how much food value is packed into even a small amount. It provides the protein you want without the extra calories and cholesterol you don't. Since it is low in fat, carbohydrates, sodium and calories, it is especially useful for dieters, vegetarians, diabetics and hypoglycemics. The microscopic plant, saccharomyces cerevisiae, commonly referred to as brewer's yeast, is nutritionally superior to all other types of yeast.  It is one of the best natural sources of the entire B-Vitamin complex. It is a superb source of concentrated protein including all the essential amino acids. In fact, brewer's yeast contains about ten times as much protein as the same amount of whole-wheat flour.

Our supplier originally said it had no Chromium.  We did our own testing and the  Lab has found from 1 to 6 mcg in two samples - we are continuing to test as each batch arrives..  At the time the label was done we went with 1% to be conservative because we had only 2 sample results and they varied.   After we get more test results indications may be that we can raise it to as much as 10% ( 7 mcg/25mg ). 

We do know it probably has more Chromium than stated but, because we are being very conservative and just getting this into circulation, we are gathering data and will make a label change with any upcoming printings. This comment is also true for the other minerals - we will look at average results after 8 or more lots and review the label. 

Brewer's yeast is not related to Candida albicans fungus, which causes yeast infection.

How can pure, unbleached, untreated brewer's yeast taste so good? Of course, there is a reason. Most brewer's yeast is recovered after use in the brewing process. It is grown in vats containing grain, malt and hops. As the yeast plant feeds on this culture medium, it produces alcohol while it absorbs nutritional factors from the medium. At the same time, the yeast picks up chemicals and other undesirable materials. Although it goes through a debittering process designed to remove the contaminating oils, which are mostly lupulins giving it the  bitter taste, the recovered end product is barely edible. This debittering process also results in the loss of some protein (amino acids), minerals and trace elements from the product.

Although Lewis Laboratories' new 100% Pure Premium Imported Brewer's Yeast is derived from a brewing process, like our original yeast,  it does not involve hops, bitters etc., It is drum-dried at very low heat (no higher than 60 C) .    It has a  clean taste and great nutrition derived from the  sugar beets.  It is a 100% pure, natural product.  The culture medium on which the yeast is grown is most important since it is from this medium that the minerals, metals and vital micronutrients are derived.  

Unlike ordinary brewer's yeast, which is grown on grain and hops liquor, Lewis Labs' 100% Pure Premium Imported Brewer's Yeast is a primary yeast grown on sugar beet molasses.   Derived from the sugar beets is a rich spectrum of nutrients.   Sugar beets are known to absorb so much out of the soil—minerals, metals, trace elements, etc. that they can only be grown in one field for two years without depleting the soil.
