Unfortunately, the supplier no longer produces yeast from their sugar beets. How can pure, unbleached, untreated brewer's yeast taste so good? Of course, there is a reason. Most ordinary brewer's yeast is recovered after use in the brewing process. It is grown in vats containing grain, malt and hops. As the yeast feeds on this culture medium, it produces alcohol while it absorbs nutritional factors from the medium. At the same time, the yeast picks up chemicals and other undesirable materials. Although it goes through a debittering process designed to remove the contaminating oils, which are mostly lupulins giving it the bitterness, the recovered end product is less than desirable in taste. This debittering process also results in the loss of some protein (amino acids), minerals and trace elements from the product.
Unlike ordinary brewer's yeast, Lewis Labs' 100% Pure Premium Imported Brewer's Yeast™ is primary yeast grown on sugar beet molasses. Derived from the sugar beets is an abundant spectrum of nutrients. Sugar beets are known to absorb so much out of the soil (minerals, metals, trace elements, etc.) that they can only be grown in one field for two years without depleting the soil.
Like our original yeast products, the Lewis Laboratories 100% Pure Premium Imported Brewer's Yeast™ Flakes process does not involve malt, hops and bitters etc. It is drum-dried at very low heat (no higher than 60° C). It has a clean, nutty taste and great nutritional value derived from the sugar beets. It is a 100% pure and natural product. The culture medium on which the yeast is grown is most important since it is from this medium that the minerals, metals and vital micronutrients are derived.
We have done extensive testing and our lab has confirmed that our Brewer's Yeast retains a protein content of 45%-50% and a nucleic acid content of 6%-8%. It also contains approximately 3%-4% natural RNA/DNA from nucleotides.
It is important to note that brewer’s yeast is not related to the Candida albicans fungus, which can cause a yeast infection.
At the recommended serving size of 25 grams (3 level tablespoons) one can will last two weeks.
