Vegetable Soup

1/2 chopped onion

2 cloves garlic, crushed

2 stalks celery, chopped

1 carrot, grated

2 tablespoons oil or butter

1/2 teaspoon turmeric

3/4 pint water

2 to 6 tablespoons Lewis Labs Brewer's Yeast™ Flakes

Salt and pepper to taste

 

Sauté the onion, garlic, celery and carrot in the oil until the onion is transparent, add turmeric and stir in the water. Sim­mer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat. Stir in Lewis Labs Brewer's Yeast™ Flakes and seasoning to taste. Add pat of butter to each bowl before serving or serve with "double dumplings" (see recipe). Makes approximately 3/4 pint.
